Easter Egg Hunt Freebie

Spring is here, and I hope it stays!  Those days of snow and cold should be long gone!  My favorite holiday has always been Easter.  Even as a child, I enjoyed the story of Easter and time with family.

My favorite memory was always the Easter egg hunts we had with family.  So, I love having Easter egg hunts with my students, but I like to get them reading or thinking when we do them.  Last year my first graders had so much fun searching for eggs around the room and reading the CVC words or nonsense words they found in their eggs.  I wish I had thought to take pictures, but I didn't.

Nonsense words are important for students as they are learning to decode words.  Once they can decode words with those patterns, they can apply it to other words they may see.  For that reason, I created the fun egg hunt for my students.

This year, I will do the same thing with my first graders as we review those short vowel patterns and word families.  I know they will have fun searching for the eggs and reading the words around the room.

You can grab a copy of my Real or Nonsense Word Egg Hunt by clicking {here} or on the picture below.

Enjoy the spring weather!  Read outside as much as you can!
