winter storm warning

I am currently sick in bed while we are in a winter storm...up to 10 inches is expected by this afternoon.  Which could possibly mean....a snow day tomorrow!  If not, and if I'm not sick in the morning, I will be bringing my kids outside to enjoy it before it gets too soggy to play in.

Snow can be fun. It can be a pain in the butt when you have to shovel a gigantic berm (heavy, compacted snow piled about 5 feet high and 3 feet wide at the entrance of your driveway), but when you aren't trying to manage it, you can remember how to play with it! When I was little, my mom would give us all (she did home daycare) spray bottles with water and food coloring. We would go outside for hours and spray the snow until it was one giant rainbow in the front yard. We even "tagged" our snowmen.

Now, when we have finished early, or as a special treat for getting all Mr.Potato's head's pieces on, I take my class outside to the little playground right outside our classroom (it's separate from the regular recess playground) and the class creates their own memories.
If you live in a snowy area, what do you do for fun in the snow?
